We understand that it may be an intimidating and sometimes frustrating situation when trying to choose the most effective option. Bottom line is that your vehicle is not shifting the way it should and needs to be fixed... Brought back to being dependable once again. These are the most common options for your Transmission repair.... 1) You could purchase a used Transmission from a wrecking/junk yard, however, you really don't know how many miles it actually comes with and how well it was maintained by the previous owner. You would have to pay someone to install the Transmission for you. If the Transmission FAILS, then you would have to pay labor for it to be removed and reinstalled for another, considering that the junk yard will NOT pay you for any labor involved in replacing THEIR product that FAILED. They will NOT issue a REFUND...only credit. Meaning that if they don't have another Transmission in stock, you would have to wait on them to get another. Warranty is usually only for a period of 30 days, or 90 days at best. After that, you would be out of luck. 2) The second option is to find a Transmission repair shop that will provide you with a very cheap (too good to be true) rebuild price quote. They will give you a "FIXED" price, with a one year warranty. The reason why they are able to afford to do this is because although they promised to provide you with a full rebuild job, they are actually using USED parts in the process of rebuilding your Transmission. It's what's called in the industry as a "PATCH JOB". They will ONLY replace parts that are worn, or damaged with USED parts, instead of NEW. The life span of the Transmission is drastically minimized due to this. This type of Transmission rebuild job is what causes customers to keep taking their vehicles back to the repair shop over and over again for warranty issues. Reputation is key in this industry, however, some repair facilities do not consider that an important factor. 3) The dealership is another option...$$$$$$$$$ (we all know that story) 4) The fourth option would be us. For over 35 years, Father & Son Transmission Specialists has been dedicated to excellent customer service, accompanied by the proper knowledge and experience in effectively solving the issue with your Transmission. No gimmicks, no cons. Our pricing structure is FIXED, meaning that you will NOT pay anymore than you reasonably should. Our price quotes stay at what other repair shops start. The ultimate test is when calling around for Transmission repair price quotes, ask them that if they would include "HARD PARTS" and "SOLENOIDS" (these parts are only replaced if necessary), besides "SOFT PARTS" (rebuild kit). It rubs them the wrong way and will NOT want to answer, or have an answer for you. Please do not hesitate to contact me, should you have any questions.
