Need to learn Russian for your professional life? Want to learn Russian for social reasons? Or, just want to learn Russian for fun? (Yes, learning Russian is fun!) Well, look no further!
I'm an American who started learning Russian at the age of 17, and now, over a decade later, I've achieved true fluency in Russian. If I can do it, you can too!
To tell you a little more about myself, I majored in Russian as an undergraduate, lived in St. Petersburg Russia for nearly a year, and completed an extremely intensive 8-week Russian language immersion course at Middlebury College. I also hold teacher certification with a bilingual extension in Russian in New York State. My "day job" is as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and accent instructor. My understanding of how to train your mouth and tongue to form the sounds of a different language (rolled Rs, anyone??) have allowed me to achieve an excellent Russian accent, and I can teach these tips and tricks to you so that you can pronounce your newly-learned Russian vocabulary with an excellent accent, too!
I myself started learning the Russian language from zero as a young adult at age 17. Due to this life experience, I know EXACTLY the twists, turns, and potential pitfalls and confusion that arise from being a native speaker of English trying to learn Russian. The grammar of your first language really shapes how your mind "does" language, and I will be there with you through every single step of the way of understanding Russian's grammar and syntax, which needless to say, is extremely different from English. We'll learn vocabulary in a focused, efficient, and highly customized way. I have walked this path myself, and I'd be honored to be your guide along the way towards learning the Russian language!
