A little about me... I am an early-retired Firefighter/EMT for the City of North Port. I am an active person who enjoys playing volleyball and basketball. I have played these sports since she was in High School and received a full scholarship to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida to play basketball from 2000-2004. There I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology and Sociology. I then pursued a Master's Degree in Sociology and during 2nd semester, she received a Financial Manager position at a small wholesale company. Learning in 2005 that I did not see myself as a corporate career woman, I changed pace and began EMT school in January 2006.
Finishing the Fire academy at the top of the class, I was hired in 2006 as a Firefighter/EMT.

Growing up the child of an elementary school teacher and truck driver in Alabama taught me to be a kind, organized, caring person who enjoys working with children and the community. My first tutoring experience was helping her 1st grade classmate learn to read. Since then, I have tutored numerous subjects from time management and homework help to all elementary school subjects.

My test preparations include FCAT, GED, and SAT prep. My high school subjects are Geometry, Anatomy, World History, and Algebra. I hold the following certificates: National Registry Pro Board Firefighter I and II, EMT-Basic, Firefighter I and II, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, and CPR.

I enjoy volunteering my time to help produce effective, respectful young people throughout Tampa Bay. I have learned a lot about compromise and commitment as a firefighter and student/athlete. I am a team player who can talk to anyone about anything that is relevant to the cause at hand. I possess a strong work ethic as I am punctual, loyal, dedicated, and committed to excellence as evidenced by my receiving the Outstanding Firefighter Award from Palm Beach Community College Fire Academy. I understand the importance of balancing personal, academic, and employer needs. I have the ability to prioritize these interpersonal relationships through effective communication. I have worked with students through tutoring/mentoring programs since I was in first grade. I have served in leadership roles selected by employers, coaches, mentors and peers.

My education inside and outside the classroom has improved my ability to relate to people from different backgrounds.

Enjoy your day!
