Hello, I am a friendly professional math tutor specializing in middle and high school math. I simply love math and try to convey my love and understanding to my clients. I try to show them that it is really not that hard and that it is something that they actually can do, as long as they put in the effort. I do not do the homework for my clients but I do assist them in getting it done and helping them to understand the requisite concepts.

I am the owner of Akamai Tutoring and have been tutoring for over 20 years. I started in my teens, helping relatives and friends to succeed in their goals and it has turned into my career. I can come to your home, or meet at a local library. I can also meet at parent's office or workplace if it is allowed. If you are just visiting Oahu, I can also help you short term in the Waikiki/Ala Moana area.

My rates are $50/hour if you are in town, or most of Metro Honolulu, including the area between Pearl Ridge (non-traffic times) and Kahala Mall, and also Windward City Shopping Center and Kailua Town Center. I will charge a little more if I have to travel a greater distance. I travel as far as Mililani and Hawaii Kai during the evenings and weekends. As an experienced local tutor, I am familiar with most the the curricula from both the public and private schools. I especially enjoy helping students understand Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Helping younger students is also very fun for me. A lot of times, there are just a few stumbling blocks that are preventing their progress.

Most of my students are regularly scheduled for once or twice a week, however, you are welcome to schedule on an as needed basis. The only drawback in this case is that I give scheduling priority to my regulars.

I am easy going and not an intimidating task master. I am very patient and understanding. If you have a student who is trying to do well, but simply needs more individual instruction than the school can provide, I am your tutor. It doesn't matter how well or not your child is currently doing. If your child is struggling to understand the concepts, then I want to help him/her. Struggling leads to growth.

I also help homeschool students and I also do SAT Math Prep. I am very reliable and if you make an appointment, you can count on me to show up. I have been favorably rated on Yelp under Akamai Tutoring.
