Group and One-on-one Tutoring, MPM Learning Center
Is your child frustrated by a particular subject or unit in his/her studies?
Do you wish you had more time to help your child with his/her homework?
Do you work late and wish you had a safe and educational place for your child(ren) to stay during the early evening hours?
MPM Learning Center offers group and one-on-one tutoring for students in Elk Grove and the surrounding areas! Many parents and guardians feel that their children benefit from extra help after school. MPM Learning Center provides an opportunity for students to receive personal and specialized attention from our experienced teachers and tutors. Our goal is not only to bring students up to par during their time with us, but also to let them become so familiar with the material at hand, that they will undoubtedly excel. Parents and/or guardians who have enrolled their children in one of the tutoring programs have been very pleased by the results. And our prices are the LOWEST in town!
Many of our students attend MPM between 3:00 and 6:00 for extra help after school. Students are divided up according to age and have the opportunity to complete their homework from school in the presence of an experienced tutor who circles the room, helping them individually as problems arise. Our ratio of students to tutors is excellent: we strive to keep six or fewer students in each classroom. Students tend to be very receptive to this method, but since many students are shy, the tutor will ask everyone throughout the class period if they need help. This way, no one is left in the dark!
Students will finish all of their homework and their teacher will check all of their work. If there is a mistake, students will correct it. If students are not finished with their homework, they will stay with the tutor until the homework is done. Also, tutors will sign off their homework as accountability that it is finished and corrected. There is also a tracking sheet that we use here at MPM Learning Center which has the student's names, list of their assignments, and a slot where their signature is required to sign off when their homework is completed. Again, this is for accountability for the students and their teachers.
When students complete their homework from school, they will be given additional work. Students will alternate days, working on both English / Reading Comprehension / Language Arts skills and on Mathematics. The worksheets are divided into four levels for each grade in school so that we can best meet the child's current educational needs. Also, if a child is having problems in a specific area, (i.e. identifying prepositions or multiplying fractions), we will find materials to suit his or her specific needs.
