When buying a house with a wood burning fireplace, take every precaution to ensure your family's safety.
Get a CHIMNEY CLEANING with your CHIMNEY INSPECTION before problems arise.
Inspection and Services provided:
- CLEANINGS- clean out creosote build-up and check for cracks in tile (CLEANINGS should be done once a year to ensure safety)
- REPAIR or replace cracked cement cap (prevent water damage)
- REPAIR or replace damaged chimney flashing on roof (prevent water damage)
- REMOVE cracked tiles and replace them with new ceramic tiles or metal liner (cracked tiles pose a fire hazard)
- INSPECT metal chimney cover (Prevent animal issues- squirrels, birds, bats, raccoon's, etc entering home through chimney)
- TUCK POINTING - remove loose mortar around brick, and replace with new material.
- REBUILD- tear down broken brickwork, match and rebuild with new brick
(The top 2-5 ft of chimneys usually have the most damage in the cap and brickwork)
- RELINING- Remove old tile or liner and reline with stainless steel liner, backed with refractory cement or wrapped in ceramic wool.
- NEW CONSTRUCTION-construct cement block foundation, build new brickwork with new cement cap and metal cover.
- INSTALLATION - of wood stove inserts, free standing wood stoves or wood pellet stoves to heat the family room or entire home.
