Heat or heatless?

That constant struggle of women with straight hair trying to curl it or women with quite frizzy hair trying to tame their crazy curls and make them look sleek and Hollywood chic style has no ending.

Those who have long and thick hair will get their arms completely numb by the time they finish curling their hair with a regular curling iron.

Those who have stubborn straight hair can’t find the way to make their gorgeous curls for too long. And, somehow, they don’t want to turn out as great as on those Victoria’s Secret models or women on red carpet events.

But, there is a great solution to that problem. If you’re getting ready for a special event and want your hair to look curly and glammed up, just go to the hair stylist or find one that will do your hair at your own house.

You may go to HireRush.com to leave a request for hair stylists to receive response from local pros. Or, you may call/text them directly from the website.

Choose a curl based hairstyle and ask your hair stylist to walk you through the steps of how he/she curls your hair and what needs to be done to make your hairdo last.

This way you will not only end up with a gorgeous night out hairstyle. You’ll also learn a couple or hair curling tips and tricks from a real hair styling pro.

But, heat-based hair curling tools (curling irons of numerous types, flat irons, heated hair rollers) are proven to cause significant damage to our hair even if you use heat protection. As they not only break the structure of some hairs by curling them, but also impose harmful heat influence on them.

However, there’re numerous ways of how you can curl your hair with no heat. Here are only a few of them!

The results are quite gorgeous! The curls look natural and tend to stay way longer than the ‘heat-based’ ones.

5 fun ways to curl your hair without heat

Cute buns

Start with damp, but not completely wet hair.

Part it into 4-5 sections (2 on each side of your hair and one at the back) to and up with tighter curls and 2-3 sections to end up with softer waves.

Twist each section up to the roots, wrap it around the base to form a bun right at your head and secure it with a rubber band

Leave to dry (overnight), undo the buns and go through your curled hair with your fingers to separate the curls and give them more texture.

Twist the buns right at the ear level to make your curls start a little bit lower.

Curl your hair with 3 bandanas

Part your slightly damp hair and divide each section into top and bottom one.

Take the strand, wrap your bandana around its base right at the roots of your hair, so that your hair strand ends up between two bandana strands.

Start wrapping your hair strand around each bandana strand (in turns) till you reach the end of your hair. Tie this bandana curl with hair tie and repeat on the rest of your hair.

Leave it to dry, undo the bandanas, separate the curls and fluff your hair up with your fingers. Watch this tutorial on YouTube.com if you got confused.

Note: 6 bandanas will give you smaller and tighter waves.

Brave and long-wear straw curls

To curl your hair this way, you need to have a small pack of drinking straws.

Start with dry hair. Pick a thin strand, spray it with a little bit of water and start wrapping it tightly around the straw beginning at the very top of your head.

Once you’re done, hold the strand’s end with the straw, bend the latter and tie it to secure the curl.Complete this procedure on the rest of your hair and let it air dry for a couple of hours.

Take the straws out, run your fingers through your curls to make them look a little bit more natural and rock this curly craziness!

Your hair will look great even the next day. (Warning! Don’t brush these curls in order not to let them go overboard).

Soft curlers/ curling rolls or paper towels

Work amazing overnight.

Choose the diameter of your soft curlers (the wider, the more relaxed and wave-like your curls will look). Decide where you want your curls to start.

Grab a section of your hair (that’s almost dry), wrap it around the curler and twist its ends together once you’re done.

If you don’t have these curlers at home, you may crunch a bunch of paper towels into long twists and wrap the sections of your hair around them.

Tie the ends of paper towels to secure the curls in place.

Quick sock bun for beachy waves

Find an old (yet washed) sock and cut its toe tip off. Roll the sock into a doughnut shape.

Bring all of your hair into a high ponytail and pull it through the sock doughnut. Wrap your hair around it a couple of times till it’s all gone into a bun.

Secure your bun with a rubber band and let your hair sit this way for a couple of hours. The longer you keep it in a bun, the longer your hair will remain curled.

If you bun curl your hair when it’s a little bit damp, your curls will last even longer. Curl your hair into two buns to reach smaller and tighter waves.

All these no heat techniques will help you curl your hair overnight and save your precious morning time on doing your hair. Make sure to try them out!
