We hired the guy the install four kitchen cabinets and do 45 sqft tile over our backsplash plus to install a butcher block table top. He quoted $4000 - $4500 for everything and said it would take him a week.
Reality:
- he installed 4 electrical outlets and charged $500 to drill holes and fish a wire through
- he only showed up on weekends as if nobody has better things to do on a Sat/Sun
- he asked for cash every second visit...$350 here...$1850 there...total of $5300
- after he cut and set all tile he stated he would get another $2000 and that would be it. I did the math with him and showed receipts for material and counted his hours. He almost started crying and I gave him $300 more than agreed with the provision to finish the grout during the week...not weekend. He texted the week he would finish over the weekend.
- I decided to grout myself since I could not wait another month for the job to complete
- Asked to call me back and discuss money - SILENCE
